With the return of cruise passengers and people starting to eat out again, we’ve reopened our doors! Unfortunately we were not able to find a spot in downtown Juneau (maybe too many cruise owned buildings?) but we are fortunate in our new spot in downtown Talkeetna at the historic Denali Fairview Inn! Come by and see us!
Catch
We get our fish from locally operated Copper River Seafoods! This means your salmon was caught in Alaskan waters by local families.
Cook
The salmon we get is quickly cooked on a panini grill and mixed with minimal ingredients to create our cakes, and burgers Our chowder and sauces are made from scratch.

About Us
Allan and I are both full time Alaskans, born in Alaska. In 2017 we were fortunate to be able to quit our jobs (engineering and mushing) and took off to travel for a year. When we returned, much lighter in the pockets, we decided to move to Juneau (my hometown) to start The Salmon Spot after being inspired by seaside restaurants in Europe.
After a fun few years in Juneau, the Covid 19 pandemic shut everything down. It was devastating.
We put the time to good use though, Allan returned to a desk job and we had baby Rosie!
We tried our best to lease a spot in Juneau, but found that much of the commercial real estate is geared towards cruise owned jewlery and gifts and has priced out most small businesses. Fortunately an opportunity opened up for us in Talkeetna, Alaska and we’re excited to open up shop next to the historic Denali Fairview Inn. We hope to see some of you in our new location!

Our Employees
The Salmon Spot tries to employ a local staff. It’s incredibly difficult to find help these days! Many of our staff are high school students, new to the job world. Please be patient if you see one of them learning, we try to inspire our staff with a variety of job customer service training to take with them into other careers.
The Fish
Our fish is ordered locally to help keep money in the local economy, and to help support the fishing industry in Alaska.
We hope to stand out from some of the larger industry businesses around us by providing a unique taste of Alaska.
