Job Title: RN - Step Down Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: NOC Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 18 months of recent cardiac unit experience License: Valid nursing license Certifications: Must pass a proctored Dysrhythmia Exam on the first attempt Must-Have: - Strong cardiac background - Experience with listed cardiac drips - Telemetry interpretation skills - Chest tube experience - Rating of "4" on all cardiac skills Description: This position is for an RN specializing in step-down care. The unit is a high-acuity, cardiac-focused environment. Travelers must have a solid background in cardiac care. Experience with EPIC is required. Nurses must be able to independently interpret cardiac rhythms. No technical assistance is permitted during the Dysrhythmia Exam. The exam is paper-based, proctored, and requires calipers. Ensure familiarity with related telemetry study guides. The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 to 1:5. High patient acuity is expected, along with frequent admissions and discharges. The unit sees significant procedural volume. Experience with the following drips is required: Insulin, Milrinone, Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Heparin, Lasix, Nitroglycerin. There will be no ventilator patients. Heart transplant experience is preferred, but training is available if needed. LVAD experience is also preferred, with training available. Common patient populations include Heart Failure, Atrial Fibrillation, and Ventricular Tachycardia. Common procedures performed include Right & Left Heart Catheterizations and Stent Placement. Travelers may need to float to similar units as necessary. They will not float to the Cardiac Monitor Tech role. It is important that candidates are comfortable with the cardiac acuity, telemetry requirements, and procedures outlined. About Cynet Health
